Quotes:

“We have shared values between the organizations. The primary thing we want to do is have the best impact we can on the facility management industry and we recognized NFMT did that.” - Randy Olson, (5:44)

“We’re looking at strategies, procedures, and technology that people can implement immediately and that will have changes in their overall facility.” - Amy Brown, (9:24)

“That’s ProFM. That’s what we do. I look at it as the bridge between the undergraduate degree and the actual working world. So you have the undergraduate degree, but then how do we actually deliver a solution when we get out to the facilities?” - Randy Olson, (12:08)

“I’ve heard from people that have been in the classes in the past that sometimes studying can be overwhelming for adults who haven’t done it in a few years. So it’s nice to have that face-to-face interaction with classmates and an instructor.” - Amy Brown, (20:34)

Exploring the NFMT Remix Conference with Amy Brown

On this episode of FM Evolution, host Shawn Black sits down with Randy Olson and Amy Brown. Randy is the leading design and distribution implementer of the ProFM Credential Program, and Amy Brown is the director of events and education at Trade Press Media Group, a business-to-business media company. Throughout the episode, Shawn, Randy, and Amy discuss the upcoming NFMT Remix conference in Las Vegas and what the individuals attending can expect.

The History behind the NFMT Remix Conference

“We have shared values between the organizations. The primary thing we want to do is have the best impact we can on the facility management industry and we recognized NFMT did that.” - Randy Olson, (5:44)

After attending the NFMT Remix conference in 2016, Randy approached Amy with the idea of a strategic partnership between ProFM and Trade Press Media Group because of their shared values. Since then, ProFM and Trade Press Media Group have partnered to put on the NFMT Remix conference. The conference bounces between Las Vegas and Orlando each year, and this year it is being held at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas.

The strategy behind the ProFM and Trade Press Media Group partnership is that ProFM was seeking to build brand awareness for their credential program. The educational content the conference is focused around provided them the perfect opportunity to accomplish that. Their collaborative efforts allow knowledge about the facility management industry to be broadcasted, which wields a positive widespread impact.

What Attendees Can Expect at This Year’s Conference

This year’s NFMT Remix conference has several different tracks, including energy efficiency, technology, leadership, maintenance, and operations. There will also be a track called Trials from the Trenches, where leaders in the FM industry will discuss various case studies. This allows attendees to hear experiences straight from the horse's mouth and hear how industry leaders handle adaptations in the industry.

“We’re looking at strategies, procedures, and technology that people can implement immediately and that will have changes in their overall facility.” - Amy Brown, (9:24)

Along with these different learning session tracks, there will be a wide variety of vendors with exhibits that attendees can interact with. Spending time with these vendors allows the attendees to view newly released or updated products firsthand and discuss how they might be of use to them. Furthermore, there will be a panel featuring women in the FM industry who will share how they stepped into the world of facility management and what their experiences as women in the industry have been so far.
