“Let’s just be honest. What you focus on now is what you get in results. And so if you focus on the right things, you’re going to grow, you’re going to help your company, you’re going to help your team.” (1:24)
“Particularly in our business… the customer doesn’t care. They only want to know that it’s fixed, whatever it happens to be. But they’re really concerned about the engagement to show up, how you present, how you address them, how you inform them, how you communicate, and how you follow a system.” (7:03)
“So if you want to continually achieve better things and serve other people, you need to write it down, read it, focus on it like it’s another written book, and it’ll change your psychology to where you just keep going and getting those things handled.” (19:49)

While there is a multitude of factors that influence your life and your business, few have the same impact as to where you choose to direct your focus. By focusing on the internal process, not being inhibited by fear, and concentrating on a positive future, you can push your life and business into a prosperous destiny.
Focusing on the internal process
When it comes to running a successful business, it only makes sense that the first point to focus on is the internal process. After all, it is not what you do for business, but how you do business. If you are not clued into how your team is doing, you are not likely to lead that team into progress. It is crucial to be clued into your team, knowing who is growing and plateauing so that you know how to stretch and challenge each team member.
It is equally vital to focus on creating good systems. Without quality systems and infrastructure, your company is inclined to break down. Clients value a business that presents itself well, communicates well, and utilizes effective systems.

Focus on the positive
When looking to achieve a goal, the biggest inhibitors of that achievement are fear and negativity. Fear of a situation manipulates and restricts the growth that is necessary to achieve a goal. When you apply your mental energy toward focusing on fear, you strip yourself of the strength needed to accomplish something that stretches you. The bottom line is that fear holds people back.
By focusing on positivity, you encourage yourself to grow. Positivity is the fuel that feeds the engine of success. When you focus on a positive outlook, you consciously and subconsciously point yourself in the direction of triumph.

Where you focus is where you will end up
It is imperative to focus on the internal process and the positive outlook to always follow in the direction of your focus. When you ride a bike, you are going to ride in the direction of your gaze subconsciously. If you are looking back over your shoulder, your bike will turn. If you stay focused on the horizon in front of you, you will continue moving forward towards your goal. In the same way, the things you allow yourself to focus on will define the course of your life and your business.
If you want to be someone who helps others, but you always focus on getting what is best for yourself, you will never turn into someone who helps others. Similarly, if you want to be an efficient, creative company, but you do not spend the time and effort necessary to create an efficient and creative environment for your team, you will never achieve your goal.

Controlling your focus is not always easy, but it is essential to the betterment of yourself and your business. Commit deeply to focusing on the positive and concentrating on the person or company you want to be, and see where it takes you.
